The grass isn’t greener The implementer is
Sometimes it’s not about a good system or a bad system. I’ve seen excellent platforms deliver terrible outcomes, and I’ve seen limited systems shine far beyond expectations. The difference wasn’t the software. It was the implementation.
Systems are setup correctly when someone that knows how to guide the journey leads with intention.
It's never about just pushing buttons and following a checklist of To Do items. It’s knowing how to LISTEN to the needs, ask the right questions in the right context, and build the right scenarios in a way that will happily marry the business objectives with the system functionality. There's a hidden gremlin in translation always lurking in the background that only jumps out once it's all done, and brings the chaos when it's too late.
There's also a lot about the psychology behind change management, wanting to stick to what feels comfortable, and fearing the new. These facilitating skills require an art that only people who’ve lived in this skin long enough truly understand.
Experience in this is really the gift that keeps giving.
I’ve helped clean up implementations that have gone sideways, and through the cleanups I’ve seen exactly where things derailed. I’ve also led transformations that exceeded every expectation and brought real joy to every stakeholder in the room.
There are certainly a lot of moving parts and a fair amount of stress, but when done right, the sense of accomplishment is unmatched.
That’s the Craft; That’s the difference.
The grass doesn’t need to be greener, you just need the right gardener. 🌱✨
