Payroll deserves mastery, not multitasking.
Payroll should never be a multitasked role.
In many organizations it gets assigned as an after thought that HR, Accounting, or the Office Manager can do.
Payroll isn’t pushing that magic button.
It’s understanding laws, implications, and compliance risk. It’s reviewing every single payroll run with technique... knowing exactly what to look for, and how to prevent impending errors. A zero can be a flag to the trained eye, but otherwise insignificant.
Also, knowing exactly how the system must be configured behind the scenes, and what could go wrong when it's not. There are so many hidden ghosts and goblins in that closet.
Payroll errors don’t just get fixed with off cycles, they entail root resolution and strategic thinking. Otherwise, the perpetual snow ball just keeps growing until it buries everyone in its path, starting by the employees themselves.
If this sounds dramatic... it's because it is.
